Let me tell you about Media Ties
Harry Horn, former ABC-7 News Anchor in Ft. Myers, Florida, loved ties! All kinds of ties – gator ties, holiday ties, western ties, sophisticated ties and fun ties. And, each tie always had a story – why he had to have it or where it came from.

Of course, each tie had to look good “on-air”. Some ties are too busy or not the right color you know.
On August 22, 2005 Harry lost his 18 month battle with Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS). I just couldn’t let go of the ties. So, I packed them up and put them on the moving van to Tucson, Arizona where they sat back in the corner of my closet for 3 years.
While moving my vintage fabric collection to my new art studio I found the ties. That’s’ when the idea hit me. I’ll use the ties in my journal and box making and start a fund raising program to help those struggling with Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Keep your eyes on this blog for the newest developments in my Media Ties for ALS creations and where they will be available. Fortunately, Harry had so many friends in the media; when I run out of Harry’s ties I know they all will give up some of the ties they don’t wear anymore. And, his female media friends must have costume jewelry that I can use for embellishment! That is how Media Ties for ALS will grow.

Hey, when can I buy one of those lovely media tie boxes? Love the site, love the art, love you. You know if you put a bow on it you have a present!
Thank you Heath! I guess I should stop blogging and start creating. Wrap it up – You got a Gift!
What a great idea! I am still carrying around my Dad’s ties after 20 years. I am curious to see your media tie boxes……..show more.
I think that it is an interesting reflection that as you moved on and cleared away all of Harry’s things, the one thing you kept were his ties – his connections – the people in his life. Media Ties is a constructive way to keep the memory of Harry and ALS alive.
Well, do you really need to put a bow on it? Afterall, that would make a bow tie right? Yuck!!! Get back to making boxes and I’ll get back to better jokes.
This is a wonderful idea. I love artsy stuff myself, and to always remember my brother Harry…..thank you, Toni
